The Big West Festival is a community-based, contemporary arts festival staged biennially in Melbourne’s western suburbs. Featuring large-scale and intimate multi-artform works, Big West presents these works in the venues, cultural sites, suburban streets and industrial sprawl of Footscray and beyond.

Taking its inspiration from the festival theme ‘Home is Where the Art is’ and its large-scale guerrilla knitting event, The Big Knit, Atticus created a festival identity and program using especially knitted objects from local artists. The result, a kooky and colourful ode to the suburban landscape in which the festival takes place and draws its inspiration from, was applied across a number of communication materials including a program guide, environmental signage, website, print and online advertising.
